By Amy Gilroy -- TWICE, 8/20/2008

Foster City, Calif. — Sony will ship a new PlayStation Portable (PSP) to North America on Oct. 14 with an improved LCD screen and a built-in microphone for multiplayer gaming and Skype calls.

The updated slim PSP-3000 will be part of game package called Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters PSP Entertainment Pack, first announced at E3, and a new PSP 4GB Memory Entertainment Pack, each at a suggested retail price of $199. It will also be offered as a stand-alone product in black finish later this year at a suggested $169, including AC adaptor and battery pack.

Peter Dille, Sony marketing senior VP noted: “The 4GB Memory bundle is geared toward the digital entertainment enthusiast who likes to bring their media files on the go and download content from the Playstation Network. The Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters bundle is a great family-friendly option centered on one of the most beloved PlayStation franchises."

The 4GB pack will offer a 4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo and a PlayStation Network voucher to download Everyday Shooter, in addition to a new black PSP-3000.

The Ratchet & Clank Pack includes a silver PSP-3000 system, the Rachet & Clank Size Matters title, a "National Treasure 2: Book Of Secrets" UMD video, a voucher for echochrome and a 1GB Memory Stick PRO Duo.
