CompUSA Opens Megastores

Dallas — CompUSA and its Good Guys subsidiary are opening their first wave of combination Megastores in California, Oregon and Washington this week, with grand opening events slated to begin this Friday.

As reported earlier this year, the prototype CompUSA & Good Guys Megastores combine CompUSA’s wide computer selection with Good Guys’ premium home entertainment assortment, and share sales staff from both chains.

“We’re strongly committed to helping our customers unleash the power of today’s increasingly converging technologies,” said Larry Mondry, CEO of CompUSA. “By opening the Megastores, we’re providing a new option for customers who want more choice, but also demand knowledgeable sales and service expertise.”

The reformatted stores include 13 former Good Guys locations and three CompUSA units. Markets include Seattle; Portland, Ore.; and Los Angeles, San Francisco and Sacramento, Calif.
