Crimestopper Debuts Rear-View Mirror With GPS

SIMI VALLEY, Calif — Crimestopper will show at International CES next month a rear-view mirror with embedded 4.5-inch monitor that will ship with GPS and a rear-vision camera. The GPS and rear-camera electronics will either be embedded in the mirror or bundled as a separate system, said Crimestopper's president/CEO Howard Miller.
With the new NavPro NP3000 series mirror, when the consumer puts the car in reverse, the mirror will automatically activate the camera for backup viewing. The consumer can also activate the navigation system at any time. Pricing has yet to be announced, said Miller.
Crimestopper will also introduce new security and other rear vision camera/sensor products at CES.
The company will extend its iData modular system offered on remote starters to its full alarm series in 2006. The modular system allows retailers to stock only three interface modules, rather than a special interface for each car make or model. The modules can be programmed by the dealer via computer to work with each vehicle. Modules include a bypass transponder for remote starters, a door link and a combination of the two. The iData system allows dealers to reduce inventory and is compatible with cars dating back to 1997, said president/CEO Howard Miller.
Among Crimestopper's new alarms for 2006 is a low cost FM/FM two-way system with a line of site range of up to 3,000 feet. The model CS2000DP-TW2 has an LCD remote and is a stand-alone alarm without remote start. It is expected to ship in the first quarter. The company is also introducing new units with “razor thin” remote pagers including the one way Advantage CS2205ADV-TW1. The LED unit has four auxiliary outputs and a range of 1,500 feet and will ship in January at a suggested retail price of $299.95.
Crimestopper will also revise its Secur-View rear-vision back up cameras with smaller lenses this spring and will also introduce new wireless BackStopper rear backup sensors and an upgraded TrakNet GPS tracking system that operates on GSM.
