Sony To Ship New Vaio TV/PC

By Doug Olenick -- TWICE, 9/4/2006

Sony has taken the wraps off its second-generation all-in-one LS1 Vaio desktop TV/PC.

The new unit, which replaces the company's original all-in-one (the VAG11), will hit retail by mid-September with a $2,100 suggested retail price. The LS1 uses the Intel Core Duo processor, 2MB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive, DVD burner and a 19W-inch LCD. The model ships with Window Media Center Edition, but it can be upgraded to the upcoming Vista operating system when Microsoft makes it available. To take full advantage of both systems it has a built-in NTSC TV tuner.

The LS1 is bundled with Sony's Click To DVD software to create a digital entertainment library and an A/V quick resume switch that shuts down the display and audio output without the PC having to enter sleep mode.
