Skype Adds Full-Screen Video To V.4 Software

By TWICE Staff -- TWICE, 2/23/2009

Skype launched a new version of its VoIP software, adding full-screen video calling and a bandwidth monitoring.

The new release, Version 4.0, supports 30 fps video calling on select systems.

It uses a new audio codec that Skype said provides wideband audio quality with half the bandwidth previously required.

Using compatible headsets, the new version of Skype will support super-wideband audio for higher-quality sound.

Version 4.0 also adds a “conversations” tab for tracking multiple instant messages and customizable views.

Skype is owned by eBay.
