Majap Vet Jim Humiston Retires After 50 Years

By TWICE Staff -- TWICE, 2/9/2009

Industry veteran Jim Humiston has retired from the major appliance business after 50 years of service, the last eight as customer service VP at Asko Appliances, here.

Prior to joining Asko in 2001, Humiston held a similar post at Amana. Before that, he operated his own appliance sales and service company in Akron, Ohio, for 29 years.

Most recently, he played an integral role in growing the Asko customer-service department to its current levels, and over the past year served as a member of the company's quality-improvement team.

Humiston's retirement was announced at a recent company luncheon held here at corporate headquarters.

“Jim Humiston had a tremendous career serving his customers, consistently pursuing excellence and innovation,” said Asko president Steve Piro. “He was a mentor to many in the industry and we are proud that he concluded his career at Asko Appliances. Our employees wish Jim and [his wife] Shirley all the best for the future.”
