MES Buying Group Signs Up 60 Dealers

By Amy Gilroy -- TWICE, 4/21/2008

The new Mobile Electronics Source buying group (MES), a division of Brand Source/AVB, said it signed up 60 new members in two weeks, calling the initial response "fantastic."

The MES buying group is the result of a collaboration between Brand Source/AVB and the Mobile Enhancement Retailers Association.

Jim Ristow, director of sister Brand Source buying group division Home Entertainment Source, said, "For the first two weeks, that is a fantastic kickoff. We're now addressing some of the dealers that had questions as well as current Brand Source dealers that carry mobile. So we see quite a few more retailers signing up in the next few weeks."

The group is aiming to sign up the less-than-350 existing MERA members plus the 130 BrandSource retailers that carry car electronics.

Ristow added, "After that, we'll begin to strategically contact the retailers that we feel would benefit from MES."
