Sony Hints At "Flagship" SLR

By Greg Scoblete -- TWICE, 1/31/2008

Las Vegas — Sony will introduce a full-frame digital SLR using its newly announced 24-megapixel CMOS sensor by the end of the year.

The announcement was made at the company’s PMA press conference, here, today.

Details were sparse on the forthcoming digital SLR other than its use of a new 35mm-sized sensor developed by Sony. It will also feature a new version of Sony’s “Super Steadyshot Inside” sensor-shifting stabilization system.

Sony shipped its 100 millionth Handycam camcorder last year and is on pace to ship its 100 millionth Cyber-shot still camera in 2008, said Shigeki Ishizuka, digital imaging group president.
