DLO Updates TransDock FM Transmitter Line

By Lisa Johnston -- TWICE, 5/5/2008

Digital Lifestyle Outfitters (DLO) announced last month it had updated its family of TransDock FM transmitters.

Designed to be compatible with all new iPod models, the TransDock, TransDock Micro and TransDock Classic now come with the company's IntelliTune technology. When clicked, IntelliTune automatically scans for the clearest FM frequencies on which to broadcast iPod playback, according DLO, and when it is "locked in to a clear frequency," the display screen indicates what station the users should tune to.

The TransDock ($99.99 suggested retail) includes an A/V-out port, as well as an aux-in port so users can transmit other audio devices via the TransDock. As with all of the company's FM transmitters, it's engineered to charge the iPod during use. It also providing full control of volume settings from the car's console, said DLO, and can be rotated for iPod Touch users.

The TransDock Classic is similar to the TransDock except for a few things: it lacks the flexible arm the TransDock has, it does not have an A/V out to watch iPod video content on in-car video screens, and it does not feature the Touch-friendly rotating support bracket the TransDock has. It does, however, feature IntelliTune technology and up to four presets can be programmed in. The TransDock Classic retails for a suggested $79.99.

Finally, the TransDock Micro ($59.99) sports an updated design that features a dial-based interface for one-handed operation. Users can adjust the FM transmitter's settings, as well as tune the frequency. Pressing the center dial activates the IntelliTune technology.

All three products are currently available through "select retailers," said the company, and are scheduled to become available on its Web site "in the coming weeks."
