Warner Ships DualDiscs

New York — Warner Music Group launched the first of four planned DualDiscs that will be available by Nov. 23 at the same price as the company's CDs. CD music is on one side, and the other side features music in DVD- Audio or in DVD-Video's Dolby Digital surround sound or DVD-Video's high-resolution two-channel PCM. The DVD side also features music videos, interviews, photos, concert footage and lyrics. The first title is Simple Plan's “Still Not Getting Any” (Oct. 26). Next will be The Donnas' “Gold Medal.” On Nov, 23, Warner will make available Grateful Dead's “American Beauty” and Trapt's self-titled album.

Weapon Of Mass Storage

Carlsbad, Calif. — Digital Mind launched the industry's highest capacity music portable, the $449 100GB Xclef 500, available on the company's Web site. The HDD device features built-in audio encoders, voice recording, FM radio, FM recording and more than 20 hours of battery life. It decodes MP3, WMA, Ogg Vorbis, WAV and ASF files. It's also available in 40GB, 60GB and 80GB versions starting at $249, including free shipping, on the company's Web site.

Trio Of Paradigm Packages

Burlington, Ontario — Paradigm released a trio of home theater speaker packages in its new Cinema CT series, which includes its most affordable systems to date at suggested $499, $649 and $799. The $799 Cinema 110 CT features five two-way speakers: the front three with D'Appolito arrays, the surrounds with dipole arrays and a 10-inch 150-watt subwoofer, all in a choice of silver, white or black. The $499 Cinema 70 CT features four two-way speakers, a D'Appolito-array two-way center channel and an 8-inch, 100-watt subwoofer.

12-Channel Amps Debut

Mountlake Terrace, Wash. — AudioControl has shipped its next-generation 12-channel amplifiers, both producing 20 percent more power than their predecessors. They're bridgeable. The 760 and 560 are rated at 12x60 watts, all channels driven simultaneously, into 8-ohm loads. The 760 adds six EQ bands per channel.
