Digital Audio Offers Head Units, Mobile Video

By Amy Gilroy -- TWICE, 6/20/2005

Digital Audio is expanding beyond supplying speakers and amplifiers and is shipping its first head units and mobile video systems.

One of Digital Audio's new head units is XM capable and will work with XM Direct tuners, said the company. Digital Audio will supply the smart cables to connect with XM Direct, it said.

Digital Audio is manufactured by Audiobahn, and is being marketed to a more upscale audience, looking for “classier” products or those with “cleaner design lines,” said sales development coordinator Joe Fisher, noting that Audiobahn and Digital audio remain separate companies. “Audiobahn is a little more into the flash and young hip-hop market,” he added.

The new head units are capped by the DA114 detachable face unit that is XM ready and MP3 compatible. It offers front, rear and subwoofer outputs; an auxiliary input; and 4x45-watt power at $259.99 suggested retail price. The step-down model is the DA113 with similar features but without the XM-ready tuning and MP3 capability, and with 4x40-watt power at $209.99.

In mobile video, new products include an overhead 13-inch flip-down monitor with two video inputs, two wireless IR headphones and remote at $899.99, and an 8-inch model at $379.99.

Also new are a 7-inch headrest monitor at $349.99 and a compact, slot-load DVD player at $199.99 suggested retail price.
