Small, Portable Full-Page Scanner Debuts At Planon

By Staff -- TWICE, 5/3/2004

Planon System Solutions is offering DocuPen, called the world's smallest, fully portable full-page scanner.

The unit is the same size as a pen, but where traditional pen scanners only read individual lines of text and are unable to scan graphics, the DocuPen scans an entire page of text and graphics in just four seconds. It stores up to 100 pages in its 2MB of flash memory, weighs juts two ounces and is eight inches long.

The battery-powered DocuPen is designed to capture any document anywhere. Documents can be viewed or printed at any time.

The unit, which has a suggested $199.99 retail, utilizes a contact image sensor combined with a special light pipe and timing system to achieve its functionality. It works in both 100-dpi and 200-dpi mode.
