Home Director, ITT Team

RESEARCH TRIANLGE PARK, N.C. — Home Director and ITT Industries' structured-wiring unit have agreed to jointly develop a co-branded structured-wiring home-network solution. The next generation of Home Director's Network Connection Center will be cobranded with the "Powered by ITT Industries" phrase. ITT will also manufacture the product. In the United States and Canada, IBM spin-off Home Director markets home network infrastructure that provides a central location where phone, data, audio/video and security services are delivered and then distributed throughout the house. ITT markets a home-network solution in Europe and communications infrastructure to Fortune 100 companies.

Edge Group Gets New Line

BURLINGTON, N.C. — The EDGE Distributors Group will team up with American Gramaphone to nationally distribute all Mannheim Steamroller CD and DVD software to custom installers and specialty AV retailers. The alliance of distributors also represents Cambridge SoundWorks, Channel Vision, IXOS - Path Group Inc., JVC Company of America, Peerless Industries, Inc., and West Penn Wire/CDT.

CEDIA Elects Board, Execs

INDIANAPOLIS — CEDIA members have elected the following members to two-year terms on the board of directors and executive committee. The new executive committee members are president Jeff Hoover, VP Ray Lepper, treasurer Mitchell Klein and secretary Andy Willcox. Past president Steve Hayes is also on the board. The new board of directors consists of Bill Anderson, David Beauchamp, Andy Baker, Buzz Jensen, Jill Kent, Marilyn Sanford, Bill Skaer, Michael Heiss, Jeff Kussard, and Richard Stoerger.

Antitrust Probe Continues

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Justice Department has subpoenaed documents from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in its antitrust investigation into the music-company-owned on-line music ventures MusicNet and Pressplay. The subscription-based services will offer streaming and downloadable music content.
