Epoq Launches 1st Smart Watch Phone

Boca Raton, Fla. — Titan Global Commerce, the marketer of Epoq-branded TVs, portable media players (PMPs) and PDA phones, launched its first smart watch phone based on the Windows Mobile OS.

The unlocked quadband GSM/GPRS EGP-98B, available with stainless-steel or leather band at a suggested $699, features Windows Mobile 5 Standard OS and 1.4-inch OLED touchscreen display, which switches among displays of an analog clock, cellphone and Windows Mobile desktop.

It’s about 13mm (0.51 inches) thick and features 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, included 1GB microSD card, 1.3-megapixel camera, embedded speaker and microphone, stereo Bluetooth, included stereo Bluetooth headset, A/V playback, voice recorder and WAP Web browser. Two lithium-ion rechargeable batteries deliver 100 to 180 minutes of talktime or 80 to 100 hours of standby time.

Wi-Fi can be used for A/V streaming, Web browsing and synchronization with email servers.

Other Epoq watch phones also featuring OLED touchscreen displays but not Windows Mobile OS include the WP88, now at a suggested $549. It features stainless-steel band, OLED display that switches among displays of an analog clock, MP3/MPEG-4 player, alarm and cellphone. It is 2 inches by 1.6 inches by 0.5 inches in size.

The WP88 comes with Bluetooth headset, stereo Bluetooth and built-in kinetic recharging systems to recharge two lithium-ion batteries that deliver 120 to 150 minutes of talktime or 70 to 100 hours of standby time. It also features a speakerphone, a voice recorder, GSM/GPRS data, handwriting input and a Web browser. It does not include Windows Mobile as previously reported.
