iTunes Selling Movies Day-And-Date With DVD

Cupertino, Calif. — Apple is making new movie releases from major and independent studios available for purchase on iTunes day-and-date with their release on DVD, the company announced.

The movies will include new releases and catalog titles from 20th Century Fox, Disney, Warner Brothers, Paramount, Universal Studios Home Entertainment, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Lionsgate, Image Entertainment and First Look Studios. New releases will be priced at $14.99, and most catalog titles will be $9.99.

The iTunes catalog includes more than 6 million songs, 600 TV shows and 1,500 films, including 200 in high definition. Movies purchased from iTunes can be viewed on video iPods, iPhones, Macs, PCs and on TVs connected to Apple TV.

Other iTunes movies are available for purchase and rent, with purchase prices of $9.99 for library titles and $14.99 for new releases. Rental prices are $2.99 for library titles and $3.99 for new release rentals, with high-definition rentals priced $1 more for purchase or rent. Short films are available to rent for 99 cents.

New day-and-date releases available for purchase this week on iTunes include "American Gangster" and "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly." Other titles available now for purchase include "Juno," "Cloverfield," "I Am Legend," "There Will Be Blood," "Alvin and the Chipmunks" and "Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story."
