Vitelli, Bonan Are Latest Sony Execs To Exit Company

By Doug Olenick -- TWICE, 1/8/2004

Sony Electronics continued to lose upper echelon executives with the resignation of Mike Vitelli on December 23 and James Bonan who gave his notice a week earlier.

Vitelli was a senior VP/general manager who worked at Sony for 23 years. A Sony spokesman did not know what his future plans entailed. Bonan, also a senior VP/general manager for corporate strategy, is expected to start a consulting business, the spokesman said.

Sony announced earlier this year that it will move a large portion of its New Jersey-based operation to its offices in San Diego starting in June. Sony could not say if these resignations were induced by the upcoming shift.

Sony also announced that Mark Viken will replace Vic Pacor as VP/general manager of corporate marketing. Pacor left Sony several weeks ago to take over as president and COO of D&M Holdings. Viken had headed Sony's IT division (TWICE, Dec. 23, 2003, p. 8).

He is being succeeded by Stan Glasgow, who will become VP/general manager of Sony's IT division. Previously, Glasgow was display marketing VP.

And John Scarcella has replaced Patrick Whittingham as president of the company's broadcast and production system division, which was effective Jan. 5. Whittingham, a 29-year Sony veteran, is taking advantage of an early retirement program the company has implemented.
