Las Vegas — VoIP provider Skype made several announcements here, including a completely redesigned software interface due in February as well as support for Android-platform cellphones.
The announcements were made a week after the company offered its software for Windows Mobile devices, enabling owners of all these phones to make Skype-to-Skype calls.
COO Scott Durchslag said the new software was redesigned with the help of consumers who critiqued the beta version. He noted it’s a much cleaner design, and one of its key improvements is higher quality audio. Durchslag said Mac 3.0 software would be available alter this year. Skype currently has 370 million registered users worldwide. The company is owned by eBay.
