Telemac And LG In Prepaid Deal

Staff -- TWICE, 5/21/2001

SAN DIEGO — LG InfoComm will become the first wireless-phone manufacturer to offer the U.S. market a digital phone incorporating Telemac's network-independent prepaid technology.

LG agreed to incorporate Telemac's technology, which controls real-time accounting and billing functions, initially in select CDMA single-mode 1.9GHz TP-1100 phones beginning later this summer.

Telemac-enabled analog phones have been available for several years in the United States through such airtime resellers as Assured Technologies Cellular and TRACfone Wireless (formerly Topp Telecom).

LG will be the phone's primary marketer to resellers.

Telemac developed the prepaid software and licenses it to phone makers, airtime resellers and carriers. Telemac claims an approximate 10 percent share of a prepaid subscriber base estimated by Strategy Analytics at 10.3 million people in 2000.
