Koss Introduces Portable Ear Buds, Sterephones

By Lisa Johnston -- TWICE, 7/17/2006

Koss has released a variety of new audio listening devices, including the Clef, a portable ear bud with retractable cord that includes a key chain and LED flashlight, and the Pro4AAA Titanium and V1, both full-sized professional stereophones.

The Clef is designed as an ultra-lightweight ear bud featuring an electro/dynamic element for an extended frequency response of 40Hz to 20,000Hz. The retractable cord mechanism allows the user to adjust the cord to a customized length, and the carrying case provides an LED flashlight key chain for on-the-go listening. It carries a suggested retail of $19.

The Pro4AAAT offers titanium coating on 2 mil mylar diaphragms for a frequency response of 10Hz to 25,000Hz. Oxygen-free copper voice coils are designed to improve signal transmission and conduction for accurate sound, while computer-optimized ferrite magnet structures are meant to provide deep bass and treble clarity.

Closed, vinyl Pneumalite ear cushions seal around the ear for improved isolation and maximum bass, according to Koss. Engineered for durability for home or everyday studio use, the Pro4AAAT incorporates an extra-wide, adjustable steel and rubber headband design for further comfort, and the ear cups can fold flat for travel and storage. It comes with a case and has a suggested retail of $149.

The MV1 features titanium coating on a 2 mil high-polymer diaphragm for a frequency response of 10Hz to 25,000Hz. As with the Pro4AAAT, a 1-inch diameter oxygen-free copper voice coil is designed to improve signal transmission and conduction for an accurate and precise sound reproduction, while computer-optimized ferrite magnet structures are meant to provide deep bass and treble clarity.

Closed cushions seal tightly around the ear, eliminating ambient sound and maximizing bass performance, said the company. Designed to withstand the stress and pressure of everyday studio use, the MV1 incorporates an adaptable steel and rubber headband design that further ensures isolation, and the earcups fold flat. The MV1 comes with a case and has a suggested retail price of $179.

All three products are covered under Koss' “No Questions Asked” lifetime warranty and are currently available.
