New Akai LCD Lines Take A Bow

Akai (Central Hall 14423) will use International CES to unveil its new Viella and ZxPro LCD TV lines.

Models in the lines are scheduled to ship to dealers in February. All feature a new cosmetic look and include screen sizes ranging from 20W inches to 47W inches.

The Akai Viella (Z6TA) series includes a range of big screen models, all with full 1,920-by-1,080p resolution, 800:1 contrast ratios, 500 cd/m2 brightness, ATSC/QAM tuning and dual HDMI/HDCP inputs. All Viella models comply with the VESA mounting standard.

Viella screen sizes include: 37W inches ($1,099 suggested retail), 40W inches ($1,399), 42W inches ($1,599) and 47W inches ($1,999).

The Akai ZxPro (Z5TA) series includes both fully integrated LCD TVs and LCD/DVD combo units. All models offer 1,366-by -768p native HD resolution, 16:9 widescreen aspect ratios, ATSC/QAM tuning, HDMI and component video input and VESA mount-standard compliance.

Screen sizes in stand-alone HD LCD TVs include: 20W inches, ($449), 27W inches ($599), 32W inches ($799), 37W inches ($999) and 40W inches ($1,199) inches.

Screen sizes in combination models include: 20W inches, 27W inches, 32W inches and 37W inches.

Models in both the Viella and ZxPro lines feature black front face cosmetics with a silver stripe accent.

Akai will also offer two series of high-definition plasma sets in 2007. Representing the Gx series is the 60W-inch PDP6065TA, featuring 1,366-by-768 resolution, 1,000 cd/m2 brightness and dual HDMI inputs.

The Lx series will offer two models, in the 42W-inch PDP4273M1 and the 50W-inch PDP5073TM.

The 42W-inch model features 1,024 -by-768p resolution, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, 1,200 cd/m2 brightness and HDMI input. The 50W-inch model features 1,366-by-768p brightness, 1,000:1 contrast ratio, 1,000 cd/m2 brightness and HDMI input.
