RadioShack Taps Dave Edmondson As President/COO

FORT WORTH, TEXAS -Dave Edmondson, executive VP/chief operating officer of the RadioShack Retail Division, has been named president/ chief operating officer of the company.
Edmondson has been credited with working with chairman/CEO Len Roberts to implement many of the successful changes the chain has undergone during the past several years.
In a prepared statement, Roberts said of Edmondson that "his extensive marketing background, combined with his ingenuity and strong business acumen, has been instrumental in helping reposition RadioShack to fully exploit our powerful brand equity."
Edmondson joined RadioShack as marketing VP in 1994 and was promoted to executive VP/chief operating officer of the Retail Division in 1998. Prior to joining RadioShack, he held a variety of sales and marketing posts with ADVO, a database and direct-marketing company.
Roberts had the title of president of the company, and RadioShack said no one has been named to replace Edmondson at the Retail Division. The chief operating officer's title is a new one for RadioShack.
