Tablet PC To Debut Tomorrow

By Doug Olenick -- TWICE, 11/6/2002

New York - The Tablet PC will become a reality tomorrow when most major PC vendors roll out their first version of a next generation portable computer.

Hewlett-Packard, Acer, Toshiba, ViewSonic, Motion Computing and Fujitsu PC, are among the thirteen hardware companies taking the wraps off their Tablet PCs. These devices are initially expected to sell to businesses and government services, but some will find their way into the retail market.

HP's initial model is the TC1000, Toshiba's is the Portege 3500/05 and ViewSonic has announced the V1100.

Expected suggested prices will range from $1,600 an up.

The Tablet PC concept was envisioned by Microsoft founder Bill Gates and primarily financed by his company.
