Asko Intros UltraCare Laundry System

Richardson, Texas— Asko has introduced an UltraCare laundry care system that's comprised of three integrated components and a fourth, freestanding unit. The primary components include a full-sized, front-loading, stacked washer and dryer, integrated side-by-side with the company's UltraCare drying cabinet. The fourth component is the UltraCare cold iron, for pressing hard-to-iron linens. “The new UltraCare laundry system is what consumers are looking for,” said Jamie Bird, Asko's marketing VP. “Functional, yet stylish components that work as one, while seamlessly molding into the consumers' already busy lifestyle, will be a welcomed change for many people.”

Roomba Tops 2 Million Units

Burlington, Mass. — iRobot says it has sold more then 2 million Roomba robotic vacuum cleaners, making the disc-shaped, self-guided floor-care units one of the best-selling consumer robots ever. “This achievement signifies that more and more consumers are adopting robots in their everyday lives, thereby liberating themselves from mundane household chores,” said Greg White, executive VP of iRobot. Roomba is currently available in five models ranging from $150 to $330 at retail.

BSH, Oakton Part Ways

Huntington Beach, Calif. — BSH Home Appliances has terminated its contract with Oakton Distributors, formerly BSH's exclusive distributor in the northcentral United States region, effective July 1. The transition includes the institution of a non-exclusive builder-dealer contract. BSH, which described the change as “mutual and amicable,” will now serve the market directly through its own central region operations. “Our entry into the central region market has been very successful thus far, and we look forward to capitalizing on growth opportunities, and developing stronger dealer relationships,” said BSH president/CEO Franz Bosshard.

Dacor Expands EpiCure Line

Diamond Bar, Calif.— Kitchen appliance resource Dacor has introduced two new Epicure WineStewards and an enhanced Epicure beverage center, which join the recently launched Epicure line of built-in, side-by-side refrigerators. The new WineStewards, available with dual- and single-zone temperature zones, “enable the precise temperature control that is required to achieve perfection,” the company said. The dual-zone unit has a 44-bottle capacity and maintains temperatures between 41 degrees and 68 degrees Fahrenheit, while the single-zone unit holds 56 bottles and maintains temperatures between 37 F and 65 F. The new beverage center has added cooling capabilities that qualify it as a refrigerator rather than a beverage chiller and allow it to store milk and fresh food in addition to beverages.
