Qsonix Server Gets iPhone App

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. — Qsonix updated the software in its hard-drive music-management system to enable remote control from the Web browser of a Wi-Fi-equipped iPhone or iPod Touch in homes in which the system is connected to a home network. The interface supports complete library browsing and queuing as well as basic playlist management.

Users direct Apple's Safari browser to the IP address of the Qsonix system or point to the Qsonix Web address provided.

Other software upgrades include the addition of a TCP/IP (IP) control and simpler access to purchased downloads in the online MusicGiants Store. All updates are delivered to Qsonix systems via an automatic Internet update. The updates have also begun shipping on all new systems.

Krell Touts Integrated Amp For iPods

ORANGE, Conn. — Krell is making more connections with iPods and iPhones with the launch of its first audio component with dedicated iPod/iPhone connection and interface.

The $2,500-suggested S-300i two-channel integrated amp follows the company's KID iPod/iPhone dock. Both tap audio from the fully differential outputs included in iPods and iPhones. Other companies haven't offered that feature, Krell said.

A cable for iPod/iPhone connection is included with the S-300i. An included solid aluminum remote controls the S-300i, iPod/iPhone playback functions, and Krell CD, SACD and DVD players.

The integrated amp features fully balanced, Class A preamplifier circuit and a stereo amplifier rated at 2x150 watts into 8 ohms and 2x300 watts into 4 ohms. It uses the Current Mode technology of Krell's top-of-the-line Evolution amps and preamps to provide wide signal bandwidth.A theater pass-through mode lets the S-300i handle the left-right channels of a soundtrack while a connected A/V receiver handles the center and surround channels.
