Anycom To Bow Bluetooth Adapter

By Doug Olenick -- TWICE, 12/5/2005

Anycom will introduce the USB-200 Bluetooth adapter at International CES next month.

The USB-200 uses the new Bluetooth 2.0 enhanced data rate standard to push 3MBps through the network. The $29 device can handle several simultaneous connections and is fully backward compatible with legacy Bluetooth devices, the company said. The adapter will allow a Bluetooth network to be set up on any desktop or portable computer, giving them access to a wide range of Bluetooth products such as cellphones, PDAs, mice and keyboards.

Bluetooth 2.0 offers a 20 meter range, and the USB-200 comes with several security features including PIN code authorization and 128-bit encryption that is established between all Bluetooth devices on a network.
