CES 2009: Cobra Provides More Data For Its Radar Units
By Amy Gilroy -- TWICE, January 8, 2009
LAS VEGAS — Cobra is putting its speed and red-light camera database on a USB thumb drive and adding new data including speed-trap site listings and "dangerous" intersections across the U.S.
The thumb drive may be purchased as an option for some of its 2009 radar detectors. Cobra is also licensing the data service, called Aura, to smartphone makers.
In addition, Cobra is bundling the Aura thumb drive with its top two radar detectors XRS 9960G and XRS R10 — and including a lifetime subscription to updates.
The Aura drive costs $99 or $49 if purchased in six months of buying select radar detectors.
