Epson America Cuts 'Living Station' Prices

Staff -- TWICE, 11/22/2004

Epson America has cut the suggested retail prices of its new 47W-inch and 57W-inch Living Station LCD-based rear-projection HDTV sets by $300, and is offering a $200 mail-in rebate and a free-with-purchase matching stand through Dec. 31.

Pricing for the LS-47P2 was reduced from $3,199 to $2,899, while the LS-57P2 dropped from $3,699 to $3,399.

Both models began shipping to dealers in October as second-generation models in the company's unique Living Station Series. The new units add integrated ATSC tuning, ISF controls, improved color management capability and non-reflective screens. Resolution of the three LCD microdisplay panels is listed as 720p.

The Living Station Series incorporates into the HDTV sets multiformat flash-memory card slots and a dye-sublimation photo printer to enable users to easily view digital photos on the screen and to make hard-copy prints without having to hook up outboard computers, cameras or printers.

Epson will further promote the new Living Station models with a $200 mail-in-rebate offer and a free matching stand valued at $350. Those offers will run through Dec. 31.

“We cut prices due to recent competitive moves in the flat-panel and microdisplay markets,” said Rajeev Mishra, Epson America consumer projectors and SIDM director. “Our recent moves were made to help us maintain the momentum that has been building on the floor for our products since last April.”
