WASHINGTON, D.C. —The Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) has made its product directories available via the Internet in order to aid retailers and consumers in selecting AHAM-certified products. The certified directories can be found online at www.AHAM.org. "Making directories available online increases the visibility of AHAM's product certification programs and shares the value of certified products with all Web visitors," said AHAM president Joseph McGuire.
Whirlpool Gets 'Web Smart' Kudos From BusinessWeek
BENTON HARBOR, MICH. —Whirlpool Corp. was named to BusinessWeek magazine's first-ever listing of 50 "Web Smart" companies. The list commemorates the efforts of visionary and savvy dot-com and non-dot-com companies for their innovative use of the Internet. Whirlpool led the category for "transforming inspiration and new resources into gold." Reuben Slone, Whirlpool's VP of global e-business, said the manufacturer was "pleased to be recognized for our efforts at integrating the Internet into every part of our company."
BSH, Hitachi Join Forces
MUNICH , GERMANY —BSH Bosch und Siemens, the maker of high-end Bosch, Gaggenau and Thermador brand majaps, has formed a broad-based appliance partnership with Hitachi covering the Asian market. As the first step in the relationship, the manufacturers will form a joint venture company in Thailand next April called BHST Washing Appliances Ltd., which will produce front-loading washers for Southeast Asia. The partners also expect to jointly develop a washer-dryer that will be marketed under the Hitachi name in Japan, and may expand their effort into room air conditioners.
