Westinghouse Unveils 'TX' LCD TV Series

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 1/8/2007

Westinghouse Digital (booth 21707 in South Hall 1), will introduce a new flat-panel TV line including an expanded assortment with 1,080p high-definition resolution.

Among the show highlights is the new TX Series, which is available in the 42W-inch, 47W-inch and 52W-inch screen sizes.

All feature 1,920 by 1,080 progressive (1,080p) resolution, and "full color spectrum" and "high contrast picture" circuitry, which is said to create "deeper blacks and richer dark scene details by dynamically matching the brightness of the TV backlight to that of the onscreen image."

An "advanced calibration menu" allows advanced adjustments to calibration settings, while preset video modes enable a range of selectable customized viewing options.

Other features include: 1,080p resolution through HDIMI/HDCP and component video inputs, "SpineDesign" intelligent cable access, "DayBright" panel technology for optimal day and night viewing and "Autosource" technology that allows the TV to automatically adjust to the external source.

Models include the 42W-inch TX-42F430S ($1,999 suggested retail), which will ship in April. The unit lists a 5,000:1 contrast ratio, 8ms response time, four HDMI/HDCP inputs, built-in ATSC/NTSC/QAM tuning and built-in stereo speakers.

Other models with similar feature sets include the 47W-inch TX-47F430 (shipping in April at $2,499), and the 52W-inch TX-52F480S (shipping in May at a price to be announced).

Westinghouse will also unveil nine models in its SK LCD TV series, which will feature the 19-inch ($449), 26W-inch ($699), 32W-inch ($949) and 42W-inch ($1,699) screen sizes. The line includes a pair of LCD/DVD combo models in the 32W-inch (shipping in April, $1,049) and 26W-inch (April $799) screen sizes.

The key SK Series feature set in all models (except the 19-inch) include: 1,366 by 768p resolution, dual HDMI/HDCP and component video inputs, ATSC/NTSC/QAM tuning, an 8ms response time and built-in speakers. The 19-inch model offers signal HDMI/HDCP and component video inputs and 1,440 by 900p resolution.
