By Staff -- TWICE, 1/8/2007
LAS VEGAS — Alpine is offering the first CD receivers that are compatible with Sirius plug-and-play and portable receivers.
All Ai-Net head units can work with Sirius products including the Stiletto and Sportster and display Sirius tag information on the radio screens. The Ai-Net units can also control the Sirius devices and support Sirius' song and game alert feature. They require a $50 optional adapter, model KCA-SC100, which ships in January.
Alpine's CD receivers start at $119 this year, compared with $149 last year. The new leader model is the CDE-9870, which ships this month at $119 with full-speed iPod capability and MP3.
For Bluetooth, Alpine will introduce a stereo add-on module for the Ai-NET head units that offers audio streaming and hands-free communication to ship in February at a target $199. All Ai-Net head units are now also HD Radio 2 compatible, so they display HD-Radio multicast stations when used with Alpine's current HD-Radio adapter, that has been lowered in price as of January to $199, down from $299.
