Sony Pictures Home Entertainment’s Feingold Exits

By TWICE Staff -- TWICE, 9/15/2006

Culver City, Calif. — Benjamin Feingold, worldwide president of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (SPHE), is leaving his post and will be replaced by David Bishop, formerly SPHE’s North American president.

According to a report on Video Business Online (VBO), TWICE’s sister publication, “Feingold was the longest-running major studio disc chief still in the position, having headed the division since 1994.” VBO noted that Feingold was instrumental in launching the company’s high-definition Blu-ray Disc by introducing the first titles in the format earlier in the year.

The change was announced yesterday in a statement by Sony Pictures chair and CEO Michael Lynton. Reports indicate Feingold’s departure is related to the studio’s recent loss of the rights to distribute the MGM catalog under his leadership.

Bishop is a former president and COO of the MGM Home Entertainment Group who led that division prior to the Sony-MGM merger. He then became president of worldwide brand integration for Sony and moved over to SPHE in April. Bishop will now act as worldwide president, but he will not be taking over Feingold’s other former title as president of digital distribution and acquisitions.
