CompUSA Gets 3rd President, CEO This Year

By Staff -- TWICE, 9/11/2006

CompUSA has named Roman Ross, a former Philip Morris executive, as its new president/CEO, its third top executive this year.

He replaces Tony Weiss, an 18-year veteran of the chain, who, in turn, had replaced long-time CEO Larry Mondry in May.

Weiss said in a statement that he is stepping down “to focus his time and energy on his family and new professional endeavors.” Weiss will remain with CompUSA for the immediate future to help ease the transition.

Weiss's departure also follows that of CFO Javier Larraza, who left the company in July. He was succeeded on an interim basis by acting CFO Todd Whitbeck.

Ross worked for Philip Morris' Mexican affiliate, which is jointly owned by Grupo Carso, CompUSA's parent.
