Frank Sadowski Joins Amazon

By Alan Wolf -- TWICE, 12/17/2001

Industry veteran Frank Sadowski has left leading CE e-tailer 800.com for the top electronics post at Amazon.com.

Sadowski, formerly senior VP/merchandising for Portland, Ore.-based 800.com, joins Amazon as VP/CE merchandising, with responsibility for consumer electronics and computers. He succeeds Carl Gish, who left the company in October, and reports to Steve Frazier, the former managing director of Amazon.co.uk who was recently named VP/hardlines.

800.com has not yet named a successor.

Sadowski, who began his CE retail career with Silo Inc. in Philadelphia and later served with Sun Television and Appliance in Columbus, Ohio, joined 800.com in 1999. In his new post, he is expected to leverage his industry experience to forge new direct relations with vendors, an Amazon spokeswoman said.

CE represents Amazon's fastest growing category, second only to books in sales.
