Symantec Opens Norton 360 To Public Beta Test

By Doug Olenick -- TWICE, 12/4/2006

Symantec has launched the public beta test of its latest PC security software suite, Norton 360.

The Norton 360 service combines the company security software and computer tune up technology with a new automated backup system and online transaction security capabilities, the company said.

The software is being offered as a free download from Symantec. All beta testers must be running Windows XP and must uninstall their current security software. The final version is slated to hit the market next March.

Other new features include the elimination of update alerts with the application simply handling the update and PC tune up process in the background. The company will provide free email and chat-based online product support during the beta test.
