Hewlett-Packard Promotes New Back-To-School Models

By Colleen Bohen -- TWICE, 7/17/2006

Hewlett-Packard is heading back to school with a promotion for students and teachers and a new selection of notebooks, PCs and printers.

The promotion allows “qualified students and educators” to take up to 15 percent off HP products by registering for the HP home and home office store's academic purchase program at www.hpshopping.com/education.

The company is introducing three notebooks, all starting at $929, featuring the newly redesigned patterned exterior with a high-gloss HP Imprint finish.

The HP Pavilion dv6000 Entertainment notebook PC has a 15.4-inch widescreen display with HP BrightView for viewing digital entertainment. It features AMD Turion 64 X2 mobile technology and comes complete with a built-in HP Pavilion Web cam and NVIDIA GeForce graphics with Pure Video technology.

The Compaq Presario V6000 notebook PC is intended to perform as powerfully as a desktop PC due to its AMD dual-core processor which allows for speedy multitasking, said the company. It also comes with built-in Wi-Fi and an optional long-life battery, as well as a 15.4-inch widescreen display with HP BrightView.

The HP Pavilion dv9000 Entertainment notebook PC features a 17-inch widescreen display with HP UltraBrightView on selected models. The computer, designed for enhancing the digital entertainment experience, includes two headphone jacks, an integrated Web cam and dual integrated microphones. It also features a full-sized keyboard with numeric keypad and AMD Turion 64X2 mobile technology to speed up performance.

Among the new desktop PCs being offered is the new HP Pavilion Slimline s7500 Series PC, one-third the size of a traditional PC. Starting at $449, it features an optional TV tuner in addition to the Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition, allowing users to manage their PC's content via remote control. Other PC offerings include the HP Pavilion a1500 Series desktop PC, HP Pavilion Media Center TV m7500n and Compaq Presario SR1900 Series desktop PC.
