Sony Blank Media Promotion Honors Guest Broadcaster

Staff -- TWICE, 7/23/2001

Sony Electronics is continuing its value-added approach to blank media sales with a regional sports-oriented promotion that combines the efforts of Sony, New York-area retailer P.C. Richard & Son and New York sports radio station, WFAN.

Called the "Be A Guest Broadcaster" contest, consumers have the opportunity to become a guest play-by-play announcer for one inning at a New York Mets baseball game.

Fans first must record a sample of their broadcasting ability of one Mets game inning on Sony audio tape, microcassette, CD or minidisc. Fans then go to a nearby P.C. Richard store, where they can obtain and fill out an entry form. This has to be mailed to WFAN with the audition tape by the entry deadline of August 31.

Following judging by WFAN station execs, four Mets fans will win grand prizes that include two "up close and personal" seat tickets to a Mets game, and the honor of calling one inning of the game alongside a professional sportscaster in the WFAN broadcasting booth at Shea Stadium. Twenty-five first prizes of Sony headphones also will be awarded.

P.C. Richard ranks at No. 35 on the TWICE Retail Registry of the Top 100 CE Retailers, with $397 million in CE sales in 2000.
