JVC Audio Connects To Varied HW

By Staff -- TWICE, 1/8/2007

JVC is connecting with new sources of music in launching new home theater in a box (HTiB) and compact music systems.

In launching new home audio products, the company is offering its first XM-ready HTiB, shelf system and boombox following last year's launch of the company's first XM-ready A/V receivers.

The company is also launching: two audio products, both HTiBs, with Ethernet connections to stream music, video and photos from a networked PC; two iPod-docking HTiBs, adding three more iPod-docking shelf systems to complement two microsystems shipped in late 2006; and adding its second iPod-docking boombox. JVC's Made for iPod products use a cable rather than a built-in slot to dock, control and recharge an iPod, except for the current RA-P10 the AC/DC boombox/clock radio.

The networked HTiBs, the DD-3 and DD-8, are the first products appearing in the new Sophisti series. Both are certified by the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) for compatibility with other DLNA devices.

Two other new HTiBs, the Cineplex TH-D5 and TH-D6, give customers the choice of setting up 5.1 speakers in traditional locations or placing the surround speakers on either side of the center channel to deliver virtual surround. The two systems also feature 1,080i/up-scaling HDMI output, USB Host, DVD player with DiVX Ultra playback and wall-mountable main and surround speakers. Pricing was unavailable.

Two new two-speaker microsystems, the UX-EP300 and UX-EP100, both feature iPod docks. The EP300 also plays DVDs and uses 3D Phonic to deliver surround sound from a two-speaker system.

JVC's first XM-ready shelf system is the MX-KC58 minisystem with three-CD carousel changer Pricing and ship dates of all products were unavailable.

No new A/V receivers were expected to be shown here.
