Mintek Unveils Portable DVD Line

Continuing its philosophy of offering the highest quality digital electronics products at the lowest price, Anaheim, Calif.-based Mintek Digital unveiled at CES its third-generation line of DVD players.

New portable DVD players were highlighted by the company's MDP-1810 ($349 suggested retail), which features an 8W-inch 16:9 TFT LCD screen. It weighs 1.83 pounds and includes built-in speakers and an anti-shock system.

The MDP-1720 ($249 suggested) portable DVD player includes a 7W-inch 16:9 TFT LCD screen, and a super-slim profile that measures less than 1-inch-deep. Also included are built-in stereo speakers and an anti-shock system.

The MDP-1770 ($229 suggested) portable DVD player also offers a 7W-inch 16:9 TFT LCD screen and the same feature set as the MDP-1720 but with a slightly larger footprint. It weighs less than two pounds.

A step below that is the MDP-5861 ($200 suggested) portable DVD player with a 5W-inch 16:9 TFT LCD screen. It weighs 1.28 pounds and includes built-in speakers.

All Mintek Digital portable DVD players include a car power adapter, multifunction remote control, high-capacity rechargeable lithium battery, an optical output plus A/V cables and outputs. Players are compatible with most disc formats including: DVD+R/RW, DVD–R/RW, CD, CD-R/RW, Kodak Picture CD and MP3. The company also unveiled its first line of home-based LCD-TV/DVD combo players. The first three models include the 17W-inch DTV 17 ($799.99 suggested retail), the 23W-inch DTV-23 ($1,499.99) and the 30W-inch DTV-30 ($2,999.99).

All models include slot-load DVD players, DVI and VGA input, PC compatibility, Memory Stick readers, USB ports and multifunction remotes. All are compatible with DVD, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/ RW, CD, CD-R/RW, Kodak Picture CD, mp3 and VCD media.
