Memorex Debuts SingStand, Fashion Boombox
By Lisa Johnston -- TWICE, 10/27/2008
NEW YORK — Memorex recently introduced two iPod accessories to the market, a microphone speaker system and a portable boombox.
The SingStand microphone speaker system, billed by the company as an interactive karaoke system, lets users sing along to music stored on their iPods and other MP3 players.
Featuring a microphone and full-size, integrated microphone stand, the SingStand also comes with dual microphone inputs so users can sing along with a friend. Memorex said other musical instruments can also be connected by plugging them into the input jacks. Other features include echo effects, two 4-inch speakers and an auto voice-control option.
Scheduled for November availability, the SingStand will retail for a suggested $69.99.
The MiniMove portable boombox made its debut on the catwalk as part of the VPL by Victoria Bartlett Spring/Summer 2009 fashion show, held here on Sept. 11. Its design is meant to be reminiscent of a woman's handbag, said the company, and its features representatives of “a new approach to electronics made to fit a modern woman's lifestyle.”
Features include a design silhouette with an integrated handle, the ability to play and charge all iPod devices with docking compatibility, a digital FM radio with station presets, the option of using AC/DC power operation or AA batteries, a wireless remote and a line-in headphone jack. It comes in black, silver and pink for a $49.99 suggested retail. Memorex said it will be available starting this month.
Memorex is a portfolio brand of Imation.
