JVC Readies '08 Summer Road Tour

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 5/23/2008

Wayne, N.J. — JVC said Friday it will launch a national summer road tour this month, slated for 30 events in 19 states, including NASCAR races, air shows, county fairs, balloon festivals and other venues.

Called “The JVC Hi-Def Experience,” the six-month promotion will employ two different JVC tractor trailer trucks outfitted with the company’s latest A/V gear. The showcases will offer an estimated 12.7 million consumers attending the various events hands-on experience with JVC’s new line of high definition televisions, Everio hard drive camcorders and other products.

“Last year’s tour was a huge success, introducing millions of consumers all across the country to JVC products,” stated Karl Bearnarth, JVC of America marketing senior VP. “So we’ve expanded it this year, with larger vehicles offering consumers the opportunity to enjoy some entertaining demonstrations, get some hands-on experience with our products, and get their questions answered in a setting where the focus in on fun and there’s no sales pressure.”

Products on view will include: P-Series TV’s with built-in iPod docks, Everio hard drive camcorders, the HD-100 D-ILA projector and the TH-F3 front surround home theater system.

A home theater room features a demonstration of the DLA-HD100, another area features JVC’s line of 1080p flat panel LCD TV’s with iPod docks. Everio camcorders — the GZ-HD5 and GZ-HD6 high-definition models — will be used in an interactive demonstration of “how easy it is to shoot, edit and share video footage” using an Everio camcorder.

JVC will also present an Everio Gem Game that will allow consumers to participate in a touch-screen matching game to win JVC products.

Tour stops will include the San Diego County Fair, Quick Chek Balloon Festival in Readington, N.J., Taste of Buffalo, Summerfest in Milwaukee, the Minnesota State Fair and many other similar events. Tour details, including a full schedule, can be found at www.jvchdtour.com.
