Staff -- TWICE, 12/4/2000

SUNNYVALE, CALIF. -A personal display device, made by inViso and called eShades, allows a user to gain a big-screen viewing experience by simply plugging eShades into a laptop.

The device offers OptiScape micro-display, which offers the visual equivalent of a 19-inch desktop monitor at 2.5 feet.

With eShades, users can view Web pages, e-mail, attachments, maps and other content-rich documents formatted exactly as they would be on a desktop PC, the company said.

The personal display device-which inViso said offers 800 x 600 pixels, complete viewing privacy, a significant extension of the battery life of a laptop, and portability-can be folded and carried. Suggested retail is $600 and availability should be about March 2001.
