By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 9/30/2002
MINNEAPOLIS — Runco formally unveiled a pair of DLP front projectors at CEDIA Expo.
Model VX-5000c, shipping now at a $26,995 suggested retail price, is a high-definition model that is listed at full 1,280 by 720 HD resolution and uses Texas Instrument's HD-1 Digital Micromirror Device.
Custom optics can be configured with one of five optional lenses to meet any throw distance for 8.8:1 to over 7.0:1.
Runco's PFP controller with VIVIX technology is packaged with the unit. Brightness is listed at 1500 ANSI lumens.
The second new projector was the CL-700 (shipping in September at a $9,995 suggested retail), which incorporates a 6-segment color wheel, 3:2 pulldown film/video detection, enhanced contrast ratio, super-low black level, 720p native resolution and full widescreen capability.
Runco also designed the unit for quick and seamless integration into home theater set ups, using discrete I/R and serial control, variable throw distance, and digital keystone correction.
