Nintendo Says 'Wii' To New Game Console

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 5/8/2006

Nintendo announced the official name of its next-generation video console, code named Revolution, will be Wii (pronounced we).

Weeks before the E3 Expo, where launch details are expected, Nintendo still had not announced a price or shipping dates for the forthcoming player.

Sony is also expected to formally launch its next-generation console —the PlayStation 3 — at the show. That player, which will build in support for home networking applications and Blu-ray Disc playback, will ship in November at a price to be announced.
