Sony Adds HD Camcorder To Qualia Line

San Diego, Calif. — Sony announced a new member to its Qualia family of ultra high-end electronics today, a high-definition camcorder.

Dubbed Qualia 002, the device offers a resolution of 1,080i (1,440 pixels by 1,080 lines) and a new Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar SQ T* lens, which the company says was specially developed for the Qualia line.

The 002 features a black piano finish, built-in capsule stereo microphone, a 3.5-inch 16:9 "Clear Photo" LCD screen, an attachable shoulder stabilizer and belt, extended life battery (NP-F970), charging unit (AC-VQ850), an attachable zoom mic (ECM- 672) and genuine leather grip belt.

It will ship this spring for an estimated $5,800.
