New Imaging Software Spices Up Digital Photography

By Greg Scoblete -- TWICE, 7/17/2003

New York - A pair of imaging software programs were announced this week that will allow digital photographers to make the most of images stored on their PC.

ACD Systems announced a new version of the company's FotoSlate (3.0) photo printing program for the consumer and small business marketplace. The program lets users create greeting cards, calendars and contact sheets, allows for accurate image color management, and features ACD Clear IQZ technology that allows users to improve the print quality of low-resolution photos.

ACD FotoSlate 3.0 is available as a plug-in to ACDSee and ACD mPower Tools or as a stand-alone product for a suggested $39.99.

SoundPix Inc. will introduce a new version of its software, SoundPix Plus.2.0, a program that allows users to add sound clips to their digital images.

SoundPix Plus has an intuitive graphical interface that lets the user select images and record sound into their digital photos, or combine pictures with existing sound files. The software stores the picture and sound clip in a single JPEG file, which SoundPix claims makes it easier to manage and share sound-enhanced pictures.

SoundPix Plus 2.0 can also create audio-enhanced slide-shows and photo e-mails. SoundPix Plus 2.0 is available now for a suggested retail price of $39.95.
