SONICblue Q3 Revenue Soars 43%

SANTA CLARA, CALIF. — SONICblue — which makes and markets Rio digital audio players; ReplayTV personal television technology; and Go-Video integrated DVD+VCRs, Dual-Deck VCRs and digital home theater systems — reported third quarter net revenue of $78.4 million. This represents more than a 43 percent increase over the $54.8 million registered in the same quarter last year.
The company, however, recorded a net loss of $32.4 million in the third quarter, ending Sept. 30. Yet, this figure nearly halved the $55.3 million net loss in the same period in 2001.
The pro forma third quarter operating loss reached $13.7 million, compared with a pro forma loss of $17.7 million in the year-ago period. Pro forma operating results reflect the reported third quarter loss from operations of $25.2 million in 2002 and $34.5 million in 2001, less restructuring expenses and impairment charges.
SONICblue revenue for the nine months jumped to $205.1 million, up from $134.2 million in the same three months in 2001. Net loss for the nine months came in at $72.4 million, down substantially from a net loss of $703.6 million for the same period a year ago.
The reported loss from operations in the nine months hit $60 million, compared with a loss of $340.3 million in the same nine months in 2001.
