Mustek Offers Portable Video

NEW YORK — Mustek, the company known for desktop scanners in the mid-90s, has branched into other digital video and media products and is introducing a portable mobile video system.
The new Mustek 1070D is a dual-screen portable navigation system with two 7-inch tablet LCDs that can strap on the back of a seat. One LCD has a built-in DVD and the other is a slave unit. The screens can be separated so just the LCD/DVD can be taken on a plane or train. The Mustek 1070D has a built-in SD/MMC slot, and it supports DiVX and MPEG-4. The screens measure 1.1 inches thick. The system comes with a 12-volt car kit and is sold mainly through online retailers, although Mustek plans to offer the 1070 through brick-and-mortar locations. Suggested price is $299.
Also in mobile video, Myron & Davis, San Bernardino, Calif., introduced a new ½-DIN slim-line DVD player that can install in the car's glove box. The AD535 is MP3 compatible and has an RCA input for video games and/or camcorders. The AD535 has a suggested retail price of $399.00.
