Sony Style Enhances In-Store Services

By Alan Wolf -- TWICE, 8/4/2008

Sony Electronics has expanded its Backstage in-store service program for Sony Style stores with one-on-one computer training sessions, Vaio PC workshops, and by adding digital imaging and portable products to its repair menu.

The Backstage program was enhanced in advance of the back-to-school season and is available now at 20 Sony Style stores nationwide. All 42 locations are expected to offer Backstage services by the fall.

New services include free personal training sessions with Vaio PC service agents where students can learn how to get the most out of their Sony computers for school or play, the company said.

Sony is also offering two free PC workshops, on July 31 and Aug. 12 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., in which service agents will demonstrate the functions and features of the latest Vaio SR, NR and FW series PCs.

In addition, Backstage is expanding its in-store support beyond Vaio to include repairs on Sony digital imaging and portable products, including Cyber-shot cameras, Handycam camcorders and Walkman MP3 players.

Other new Backstage offerings include the Backstage Pass program, which provides a bundle of personalized in-store Vaio PC services and expedited repairs for other Sony products for a flat fee of $129/year.
