Shure Sound-Isolating Earphones Make Debut

By Staff -- TWICE, 1/5/2006

Shure is introducing its E500 sound-isolating earphones and its Push-to-Hear (PTH) control switch.

Encased in a low-profile ergonomic design that's meant to be both functional and sleek, the E500 offers triple high-definition drivers and delivers acoustic accuracy that is free of outside noise for the ultimate in precision highs and rich low end, according to the company. An accessories kit offers a variety of fit and cable options that provide unmatched personal customization.

The E500 has a $399 suggested retail and is expected to ship this month.

Trumpeted by Niles, Ill.-based Shure as an industry first for in-ear earphones, the PTH control switch enables users to mute music and activate a microphone that allows them to hear external sound-without removing their earphones.

The E500-PTH retails for a suggested $449, while the PTH alone is $79. Products are expected to ship this month.
