Minkhorst Quits As Philips CEO

ATLANTA -Robert Minkhorst, 54, CEO of Philips Consumer Electronics North America, will leave the company after 30 years, effective Dec. 31, 2000.

According to a Philips spokesperson, Minkhorst decided not to accept a transfer to a new assignment "overseas." Minkhorst, who has lived in the United States for the past 10 years, and his wife recently became U.S. citizens and have two children attending schools here.

Minkhorst is currently looking for other opportunities.

Philips has not yet found a successor, the spokesperson said. Guy DeMuynck, CEO of Philips Mainstream Consumer Electronics World Wide, will assume the role of acting CEO of the North American unit until a permanent replacement is found.
